In this series of paintings, I put emphasis on the very element of water and its all-pervasive ability, which can take up any form. Specifically on fluidity.
Fluidity as a metaphor for the change of the today's world. The fluidity of water, its softness and flexibility, its "unwillingness" to hold any shape, an amazing ability to constantly transform according to outside conditions. Flowing modernity is full of surprise twists and unexpected changes. Water is lively. It flows, spills out, splashes, leeks out, floods, sprays, drips and it is kind of hard to stop it. It by-passes some obstacles and dissolves others. Its astonishing effects are associated with the idea of lightness.
Move away to a new condition. Flexibility, mobility, migration are the indicators of a modern lifestyle. Cities, countries, professions change without strain. Speed and maneuverability are among main characteristics of modern society. The fluidity of our life is the move away from the past towards the future.
